Information

EUROBIRD™ 3 :: 33° EAST

EUROBIRD™ 3 offers capacity for broadband and broadcast services in Europe.

Positioned at 33° East, EUROBIRD™ 3 is optimised for interactive broadband services, and also valued by broadcasters for occasional use and professional video services, and data networks.

With 20 Ku-band transponders, operating simultaneously, the satellite delivers cost-effective 2-way broadband Internet services. The transponders are connected to 4 spot beams over Europe and Turkey. These 4 beams overlap to allow hubs located in the hot spots of each beam to communicate with each other, thus ensuring highly effective pan-European coverage.

With its proximity to EUROBIRD™ 1 at 28.5° East,
EUROBIRD™ 3 is also perfectly positioned for bundling digital TV and broadband services that can be received by small domestic antennas.

Launch date: 27/09/03
Launch details: Ariane 5 (V 162)
Satellite construction: Boeing Satellite Systems
